Moving On

Posted by auntiem10 on August 17, 2010

Over the weekend, I e-mailed the CCRM nurses to see if I can induce ovulation or AF so that I won’t have to wait through a 40+ day cycle. One of my friends on an online forum suggested this (thanks again, C!). Yesterday, the nurse responded to tell me that Dr. Surrey is giving me two options:

Option #1: Take an HCG trigger shot (Novarel) when a lead follicle is around 18mm to induce ovulation. AF would arrive about two weeks later. I would need u/s monitoring until the lead follicle reaches 18mm.
Option #2: Around CD 21, I would receive a high-dose progesterone injection. AF would arrive about a week later.

I’ve decided on Option #1, purely for the sake of having to choose one or the other. This option will allow me to do something sooner, which appeals to me since time moves so slowly when I’m in limbo. I’m not sure yet when I’ll go in for the first u/s to measure the lead follicle.

I asked about the length of time during which I’ll be on BCPs this next go-round. The nurse said that next time, I’ll take 14-18 BCPs. That doesn’t seem so bad. Go away, dumb cyst!
