Moving Up Again! (FET Date)

Posted by auntiem10 on December 8, 2010

This morning while looking at my newest calendar, I realized that it was going to be difficult for me to have my estradiol level checked on New Year’s Day as scheduled, because my local clinic will be closed. I spoke with the main lab at my local hospital, and they would have to send out my blood to check estradiol–in fact, with the holiday, they thought it may take up to a week to receive the results! So I e-mailed my IVF nurse at CCRM to ask her if they could adjust the dates by a day or two to avoid this issue.

Lo and behold, she responded and asked whether I would prefer a 1/13/2011 FET date! Many surgery dates in January are already full, but apparently there was one opening left on that date. She let me know that they had originally added extra days of Vivelle to my calendar because of their packed schedule, but they could fit me in on 1/13 if I wished. Initially I was concerned that this expedited schedule might not give my body the time needed to build up enough estradiol, but my nurse reassured me that they’ll add extra patches after the first week if my level is a little low. After hearing that, I replied with a resounding YES!!! So all of the sudden, my wait has lessened to only 5 weeks from tomorrow! I feel very lucky.

My nurse said my first estradiol level can be checked on 1/2 or 1/3, so that no longer poses any issue. The only potential barrier is that AF has to show by 12/24 in order for this date to stick. I’ll be on 12 days of BCPs starting Friday, after which time I will impatiently await AF, so hopefully my body will cooperate. It should, since it will be a medicated period. I’m ecstatic about moving up the date again! Even better, our beta will take place on a Saturday (1/22), so the hubby and I can be together when we get the news, good or bad. And also great is that the Monday after our FET is a work holiday at my company, so I can take it easy one additional day and have a shorter work week while waiting for beta #1. This really feels meant to be!

That is great news! I hope you get AF in time. I had the frustration several times of anguishing over getting AF in time – and she didn’t always cooperate.
    Good luck!

This is exciting! So happy for you… I’m behind on reading your blog but read this post and the previous one. I can’t believe that acupuncturist!! I’m so sorry you had such a bad experience. In Denver, if you go to Terrell (can’t remember her last name), she won’t be that way. I saw her a few times in her office and then was lucky enough to get her before and after the FET. She’s pretty mellow and very nice. I don’t blame you for not wanting to go back. Good for you for telling her she was stressing you out!
